Saturday 30th April - Edmonton to Saffron Walden Sponsored Walk Covering 42 Miles
All Saints Church is first mentioned in official records in 1136 when the Lord of the Manor (Geoffrey de Mandeville) gave the church as an endowment to the Abbey which he founded at Saffron Walden in Essex.
Because of this historic link with Saffron Walden, it seems appropriate to undertake a Pilgrimmage from Edmonton to the the town where the Abbey we helped to found was sited as part of our Anniversary celebrations. At the same time, as 2011 sees the launch of a Restoration Fundraising effort to raise £500,000 to restore the Tower of our Grade II listed building, our Pilgrimmage will also be sponsored.
Our team of twelve people will be leaving All Saints at 4am on Saturday 30th April and aiming to be at Saffron Walden 15 hours later! They are all training hard; you can't just walk 42 miles without a little preparation! So, please encourage their efforts by sponsoring them. Sponsor forms are available in the church. Some of the walkers have also set up personal Charity Giving webpages as follows:
Elaine and John Maul
Stop Press! Should you wish to encourage the whole team, you can do so via the team's Charity Giving webpage at: The Whole Walking Team From All Saints Edmonton
